USCRI’s Refugee Youth Resource Center is excited to announce an upcoming training workshop on “Addressing Mental Health of Refugee Youth: Practical Strategies for Trauma-Informed, Culturally Responsive Support”  This training is intended for service providers working with refugee children and youth, including resettlement agencies, child welfare, schools, health and mental health providers, anti-trafficking organizations, and others. 

Topics addressed:
Recognize the challenges newcomer students face before and after arriving in the U.S.
Understand how newcomer student challenges impact adjustment and success in the school setting
Educate refugee youth and their families regarding educational rights, responsibilities, and services/supports available
Implement strategies for successful integration of resettled youth in school
Support the social and academic success of refugee youth in the U.S
