Cuba

Since the Cuban Revolution in 1959, many Cubans have fled the island nation in search of safety, stability, and economic opportunity. For decades, the U.S. has welcomed Cuban refugees and migrants crossing both sea and land.

Since 1980, Cubans have been eligible for assistance through the Cuban/Haitian Entrant Program. Approximately 110,300 Cubans were granted humanitarian parole in the U.S. through the Cuban/Haitian Entrant Program between October 2022 and January 2025 with the support of U.S.-based sponsors. Additionally, around 5,000 Cubans were admitted to the United States through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program or granted asylum during the same period.
