OTIP Eligibility Letters and Benefits for Child Survivors of Trafficking
The Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issues Interim Assistance Letters and Eligibility Letters for foreign national children who may have experienced human trafficking.
An HHS Interim Assistance Letter provides children with temporary access to benefits and services for up to 120 days while OTIP review is ongoing. Providers working with child survivors of trafficking may need to submit additional information to OTIP to help determine eligibility.
An HHS Eligibility Letter confirms that a child is eligible to receive certain public benefits and services without the time limitations associated with an Interim Assistance Letter. The HHS Eligibility Letter does not expire.
Children with either an HHS Interim Assistance Letter or an HHS Eligibility Letter are eligible for various public benefits and other assistance.
